Q&A with Shane – have a Question? Want to discuss something? Let’s talk!

My name is Shane McClanahan.  If you’ve emailed a question in the past, then we’ve probably already met. Going forward,  I’d love to field your questions on a live forum – so, here’s the place to have that discussion.  At the same time, if you’re more comfortable sending me an email with a question, or filling out a contact form, please feel free to do that also!  It’s all about communication, right? So, talk to me… we love our products and we think you will too.  There’s just nothing else like them on the market today.  So, ask a question… or drop me a line.  My email is shane@aprbiotech.com. Or you can visit our FAQ page to see if your question has already been answered.

  1. From Wesley:
Q: Are the formulations of your new product lines the same as my older hand santitizers purchased a few years back? Are the newer products more effective?

A: Hi Wesley, the basic formulation is the same as the earlier GFS & ESC Hand Sanitizer and they had 3 Quantinary Ammonium compounds, better known as QUATS. These are the actives including the primary, Benzalkonium Chloride 0.13%. The second generation my-shield Hand Sanitizer know has a 4th Quat and this is the formula that deactivated all of the viruses, bacteria, and viruses of the original, and then was shown to kill C-difficile spores. Continuing studies are being done to demonstrate the full effectiveness of our current Hand Sanitizer. Thank you for writing, Shane

  2. QUESTION:
    Hi Janet,
Does this protect against hand foot mouth disease?
    Thanks!!
    Kristin

    ANSWER:
Great question, Kristin! Questions like yours will keep me on my toes. Asking about a specific virus can be a little difficult to answer due to the vast number of specific organisms out there and even Hand Foot Mouth Disease (hereafter HFMDz) is most commonly caused by Coxsackie Virus A16 in the US and other Enterovirus 71 less commonly. The good news is that both of these most common viruses are in the Picornaviridae family, both are from the Entervirus genus and these are positive-sense, single-stranded, non-enveloped (easier to kill) RNA viruses. To see the “kill list” of my-shield Hand Sanitizer, go to our website http://www.aprbiotech.com Click on HOME, then click on HANDS and then open the 2nd title on the LEFT side of the page, titled “Viral Pathogens Inactivated by my-shield” and it will open the “viral kill list”. You will find Picornaviridae family viruses on page 3, near the center of the spreadsheet. You will recognize many other common viruses in this document like Herpes, Coronavirus, Hepatitis, Influenza, Mumps, Distemper, HIV, Adenovirus, Norovirus and Polio. I have a question into the Chief Science Officer of ESC to see if he is aware of any viruses known to be tested against MSHS has ever survived. I’ll share his answer when received. Shane

  3. If one person asks a question, it is likely that a dozen others just haven’t asked it yet. With this in mind, we have decided to take individually emailed questions and answer them on this blog for all to learn and benefit. We will never reveal anything but first names and the State without permission. I’ll start with an easy one”

    Q:
    Hey there:)
I was wondering if you could tell me if your products expire? I am thinking about stocking up for school but don’t know how long they will keep before expiring?? I am looking at the foaming sanitizer and hand soap.
    Thanks! Mindy
